Linda McGill Boasmond is the owner and Cedar Concepts Corporation, a chemical manufacturing plant based in Chicago.
The company, Cedar Concepts Corporation is an International Standards Organization (ISO) Enterprise that is involved in the manufacturing of surfactants, lubricants and chemical intermediates and the processing of raw materials for the for use in a wide variety of personal-care, household, industrial, and agricultural products marketed under many brand names and also provides products and services to an impressive portfolio of customers such as Boeing, Colgate Palmolive, Citgo Petroleum, Procter & Gamble to name a few.
Ms. Boasmond runs the first and currently only African American, woman-owned chemical manufacturing plant in the United States.
Prior to her owning and running the Cedar Concepts Corporation, Boasmond worked as a chemist in various industries. She joined the Cedar Concepts Corporation in 1998 and acquired the company in 2004.
Under her stewardship, the company has continued to grow and is now shipping some 60 million pounds of product annually, worldwide, and has attained revenues of close to $20 million in 2012. She who expects the company’s revenues to triple in two to four years.
Linda Boasmond is an alumnus of the DePaul University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in chemistry.
Ms. Boasmond and the company are heavily involved in their community. Some of their contributions to the local community include:
– Science Chicago “Life’s a Lab” – An initiative with the Museum of Science and Industry focused on igniting the interest and involvement in the field of science with the youth
– Girls 4 Science – Which provides opportunities, exposure and mentorship in the field of science for girls
– Church, School and Civic Organizations.
She has been recognized for her entrepreneurship and is a recepient of multiple awards including: The Women’s Business Development Center Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year “Rising Star” Award – 2008; Selected as one of the “Business Leaders of Color” by Chicago United – 2009; Featured as Women’s Business Enterprise of the Month for Women’s Business Development Center, February, 2011 and has also featured on Black Enterprise Magazine’s nationally televised “Business Report”
