Profile: Jeff Clanagan, founder and CEO CodeBlack Entertainment

Jeff Clanagan founder and CEO CodeBlack Entertainment
Jeff Clanagan is the founder and CEO of CodeBlack Entertainment, a company he founded in 2005.
Clanagan was spurred to the creation of CodeBlack Entertainment because of the lack or shortage of positive representations of African-Americans in film and television media.
Codeblack Entertainment is the first independent, vertically integrated African-American-owned film studio, actively engaged in feature film production, film distribution, urban marketing, worldwide DVD and digital assets distribution, and a production of programs for television.
Under Clanagan’s stewardship, Codeblack Entertainment has now established itself as an independent distributor of urban-themed content and has further increased its equity by developing a strategic business alliance with one of Hollywood’s biggest media conglomerates, 20th Century Fox.
Mr. Clanagan began his career in entertainment as one of the foremost concert promoters in the music business. Long before Hip Hop’s mainstream appeal, Jeff Clanagan was promoting sold-out national concert tours featuring high-profile artists such as RUN DMC, LL COOL J, NWA, WILL SMITH, THE FATBOYS, and MC HAMMER.
His reputation as one of the nation’s most respected concert impresarios allowed him to secure lucrative corporate sponsorships from mega companies such as Citibank, Budweiser, Sprite and Snapple.
Clanagan is an alumni of the University of Washington – where he earned his Bachelors in Business Administration.
