Bert N. Mitchell is the co-founder and Chairman Emeritus Mitchell & Titus, LLP – the largest minority-owned accounting firm in the United States.

Mitchell & Titus, LLP was established in 1974 provides professional services in assurance, tax, and advisory to Fortune 1000 companies, entrepreneurial enterprises, not-for-profit organizations, financial services firms, government entities, and high net-worth individuals.

Mitchell, who is a native of Jamaica, immigrated to the United States in 1958. Mitchell earned his BBA and MBA degrees from Baruch College of the City University of New York, and is a graduate of the Owner/President Management Program of the Harvard Business School.

Mitchell has served as president of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants; as chairman of the New York State Board of Accountancy; as a member of the board and the governing council of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA); as the president of the Accountants Club of America, and co-founder and chairman of the National Association of Minority CPA Firms. He has also served on the Commissioner’s Advisory Group of the Internal Revenue Service.

His activities in community service and education include directorships with the Greater New York Fund/United Way, One Hundred Black Men, Inc., and more than a dozen other not-for-profit organizations including the Bert Mitchell Minority Management Organization (B.M.M.M.O).

He also served on the advisory board for the School of Accountancy at the University of Southern California and on the visiting committee of Harvard University’s School of Business.
