Arunma Oteh who became CEO of the Security and Exchange Commission of Nigeria (SEC), in December 2009/January 2010 is on a mission to boost the value of Nigeria’s capital markets to US$ 1 trillion by 2016.
Prior to her becoming CEO, Ms. Oteh had been Vice President, Corporate Services, African Development Bank Group (AfDB); worked in corporate finance, consulting, teaching and research for a number of institutions including the Harvard Institute for International Development and Centre Point Investments Limited, Nigeria.
“Targets are important,” she insists. The Nigerian Stock Exchange‘s (NSE) market capitalization is about US$40 billion and there is about US$30-32 billin in the bond market, says Oteh.
