Presidential elections in Democratic Republic of Congo set for Nov., 2016

Friday, February 13, 2015

The Democratic Republic of Congo will hold presidential and legislative elections on November 27, 2016.

Incumbent President Joseph Kabila, will not run for office – as he is barred by the country’s constitution from seeking another term.

He (Kabila), would have served for two terms as president come November 2016.

Elections officials announced the date after protests erupted over fears that the Kabila administration was trying to delay polls – a charge that the government denies.
