Obama to attend Sept. 24 dedication of National Museum of African American History and Culture
President Obama Will Deliver Remarks at the Opening Dedication of the Museum
The Smithsonian Institution says President Barack Obama will speak at the opening ceremony of the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
That opening ceremony takes place on September 24th, 2016.
First Lady Michelle Obama, former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, and Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts will also be attending the September 24 ceremony.
Civil rights icon John Lewis, now a Georgia congressman, will also be present for the event.
Jazz musician Wynton Marsalis will perform a special composition he created for the event at the new museum on the National Mall in Washington.
The Smithsonian says the event will also include readings of African American literature for those who attend.
