Magnitude 4 earthquake rattles Caribbean island-nations

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0 rattled 3 Caribbean island-nations on Sunday night, but there were no immediate reports of damages or injuries.

The Trinidad & Trinidad-based Seismic Research Center (SRC) at the St. Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) said that the quake occurred at 9.25 pm (local time) at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles).

It said the quake was located at Latitude: 15.04N, Longitude: 60.47W and was felt 83 kilometers (52 miles) northeast of Fort-de-France, Martinique, 106 kilometers (66 miles) east south east of Roseau, Dominica and 125 kilometers (78 miles) north east of Castries, St Lucia.

In recent weeks several Caribbean countries have experienced earthquakes of various magnitudes and the SRC has warned the region to be prepared for a major quake. -(CMC)
