Magic Johnson donates $10 million to help expand youth summer job program in Chicago

NBA legend, entrepreneur and philanthropist Earvin “Magic” Johnson has gifted US$10 million towards a targeted jobs program in Chicago designed to assist at-risk youth in the acquisition of skills to help prepare them for the labor market and possibly job creation.

Johnson along with Mark and Kimbra Walter, are partners in Inner City Youth Empowerment LLC. The program known as “One Summer Chicago Plus” will provide approximately 5,000 jobs in the summer to for young people at risk of being exposed to violence.

The city of Chicago will contribute $6 million during the same period.
