Usain Bolt has defended his Olympic 100m title winning the final in 9.63 seconds.

Bolt, who holds the world record for the 100m, finished ahead of fellow Jamaican, Yohan Blake and American Justin Gatlin.

Seven of the eight finalists ran under 10 seconds, but Bolt, whose world best stands at 9.58 seconds, came home first, to the delight of the 80,000-capacity crowd.

Three of the top five put down personal bests: Gatlin (9.79), Gay (9.80) and Ryan Bailey (9.88).
