Liquid Telecom looking to launch VoIP service in Kenya

Liquid Telecom Kenya is entering the voice market in search of a new stream of revenues, reports the Business Daily.
The firm will offer fixed-line services through the internet, with on-net calls free.
Charges for calls to other networks will be released at the launch in the first quarter of 2014. CEO Shahab Meshki said the company is targeting between 5,000 to 10,000 homes with the bundled services and will be investing US$ 5 million in the launch.
The voice over IP (VoIP) fixed voice service is offered with an internet subscription and allows subscribers to receive and make calls through computers and desktop phones. For entertainment, Kenya Data Networks (KDN) said it would offer sports, music and education content on demand as part of the bundled packages.
