LIAT 2020 commences operations

LIAT 2020, the revitalized version of one of the Caribbean’s most cherished airlines, made its historic maiden flight, marking a significant milestone in regional aviation.
The inaugural flight, bound for St. Lucia, departed at 11:30 am local time, carrying a group of dignitaries and media representatives. This launch followed a brief opening ceremony where Antigua & Barbuda’s Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, and other officials expressed pride in the momentous occasion.
This event underscored the collaborative efforts between regional governments and the Nigerian carrier Air Peace to revive the beloved airline.
LIAT 2020 begins operations with a fleet of seven aircraft, initially offering a limited schedule of three flights per week between Antigua & Barbuda, St. Lucia, and Barbados.
The formation of LIAT 2020 is a partnership with Air Peace, a private Nigerian airline established in 2013.
Earlier this year, Antigua authorities announced that Air Peace would invest nearly US$65 million, while the government would contribute US$20 million. This collaboration highlights a significant investment in the future of Caribbean aviation, aiming to restore and enhance regional connectivity.
