Jayden Williams, 22, Makes History as Stockbridge’s Youngest Mayor

Jayden Williams, a 22-year-old Clark Atlanta University graduate, has been elected mayor of Stockbridge, unseating incumbent Anthony Ford with 53.8 percent of the vote (2,909 to 2,489). His victory marks him as the youngest mayor in the city’s history – and the youngest African-American mayor in Georgia.
In a statement posted to his campaign’s social media, Williams called the win a collective achievement: “This victory belongs to all of us. I’m committed to building a better, stronger Stockbridge – and now that we’re elected, we’re going to do it together.”
Williams, a political science major, brings a track record of civic engagement to City Hall. While at Clark Atlanta, he served as Freshman Class President and Student Government Association Treasurer, and was twice selected as a scholar for the White House Initiative on HBCUs.
Locally, he held leadership roles as Youth Mayor Emeritus of the Stockbridge Youth Council and Chairman Emeritus of the Youth Leaders of Henry County.
His campaign centered on affordability, small business support, and heritage-driven tourism. “I want to bring the voices of the community into City Hall,” Williams told HBCU Pulse Radio earlier this year.
“Residents should feel they’re part of the decisions that affect their daily lives.”
With a mandate rooted in inclusion and economic pragmatism, Williams assumes office as a new generation of leadership takes shape in suburban Georgia.
