Holness: Term limits should be applied to Cabinet ministers

Jamaica Prime Minister., Andrew Holness
The number of years an individual serves as a Cabinet minister could be capped if Prime Minister Andrew Holness has his way.
Holness indicated that the imposition of term limits to members of the cabinet would be a positive step for governance in Jamaica. He however did not say the maximum number of years he thinks someone should serve as a minister of Government.
This is not the first time the issue of term limits has arisen in Jamaican politics – in 2007, during the campaigns in the run-up to the election, the Bruce Golding – led Jamaica Labor Party (JLP), promised to have term limits imposed for prime ministers and to establish fixed election dates.
Mr. Holness continues to keep the election date “close to his chest”.
