The prime minister of Grenada says an agreement has been reached in a labor dispute that led to a strike and a lockout at the the brewery on the southern Caribbean island.

Prime Minister Tillman Thomas did not disclose the details of the settlement between workers and Grenada Breweries Ltd. But he said Thursday that “good sense has prevailed” and the dispute was resolved.

The union said earlier that workers sought a 7 percent raise then scaled it back to 5 percent. The company was offering half that amount. Workers went on strike for a week, then the company locked them out, saying they intentionally deadlocked the talks. The brewery owned by Trinidad-based Ansa McAL Group produces Carib beer, among other brands.
