Dr. Avis Glaze, Canada’s first Black School District Director to improve teaching in Bermuda
Dr. Aviz Glaze (pictured), is one of Canada’s most well respected educational consultants.
Her career, which began in the classroom, has included stops as the associate director of education with the York District School Board and as director of education of the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, making Glaze Canada’s first Black female director of education. Glaze, is also an adviser to the Premier of the Canadian province of Ontario.
Dr. Glaze, is to help Bermuda, put together a strategy highlighting instructional leadership.
She will help to develop school improvement teams which will focus on developing individualized improvement plans for principals and teachers.
Having Dr Glaze in Bermuda represents a major step as she is in demand around the world. Best of all, Dr Glaze comes to Bermuda at no charge to Bermuda’s Ministry of Education.
In addition, the government of Ontario have also agreed that Dr Glaze’s team can accompany her here, also at no charge to the government of Bermuda.
