Central African countries move closer to end of mobile roaming charges

Monday, November 15, 2021

Representatives of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community, known as CEMAC, have reached an important milestone in their efforts to put an end to roaming surcharges across Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Chad.

In mid-2020, member states had initially committed to enact the free roaming rules from 01 January 2021. The delayed implementation of the project has now passed a key stage, as the countries’ telecom regulators met to sign mutually agreed protocols.
