Caribbean rattled by two earthquakes in past 24 hours

Two earthquakes rattled several Caribbean islands over the past 24 hours, the Seismic Research Center (SRC) of the St. Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies reported Monday.
There were no immediate reports of damage of injuries linked to the tremors.
It said that the latest quake, with a magnitude of 4.2 occurred 9.45 a.m. (local time) on Monday at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles).
It was felt 111 kilometers (67 miles) south north east of Roseau, the Dominican capital, 131 kilometers (79 miles) south east of Point-à-Pitre in the French island of Guadeloupe and 142 kilometers (86 miles) north east of Fort-de-France, Martinique. The second tremor with a magnitude of 4.5 occurred on Sunday evening at 9.22 p.m. at a depth of 62 kilometers (37 miles).
The quake was felt 105 kilometers (64 miles) north west of Port of Spain in Trinidad, 109 kilometers (66 miles), south west of St George’s in Grenada and 121 kilometers (73 miles) north east of Carúpano, Venezuela. -(CMC)
