Reuters | Toronto-based law firm Bennett Jones on Monday named Dominique Hussey as its chief executive officer, the first Black woman to take the helm at a top Canadian law firm.

The firm also named John Mercury as its executive chair, it said in an emailed statement.

Hussey and Mercury will take over their respective roles on January 1 from Hugh MacKinnon, the firm’s chair and CEO for the last 18 years, the law firm added.

The Canadian law firm has around 500 lawyers and business advisers across seven offices in the United States and Canada, the company’s website showed.
