Barbadians to pay more for their landline telephones

Landline telephone subscribers in Barbados will pay more for the service from next month.
LIME, the country’s only full service provider, announced there would be an increase in basic residential access effective October 15.
Some costs for some of the value added services like caller identity, number, along with call waiting, will be reduced by October 1.
The company’s management has indicated that the hike in the basic line rental was unavoidable in order to partly cover the rising cost of raw materials, including utilities and copper.
The valued added services will be reduced by $1 (US$ 0.5), while the basic monthly fixed line rates will be adjusted by $1.90 (US$ 0.8), resulting in a change in the rental charge from $42.10 (US$ 21.05) to $43.99 (US$21.99).
