Bahamas Prime Minister ordered to rest on medical advice

Bahamas Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell has announced that Prime Minister Phillip Davis has been “ordered” to take bed rest after overexerting himself following recent surgery.
Mitchell explained that despite undergoing surgery just a few weeks ago, Davis had not fully adhered to his doctors’ advice and had strained himself. As a result, he has been instructed to rest for three days. Mitchell conveyed this during a church service on Tuesday, where he apologized for Davis’s absence, which was due to his recovery.
The Prime Minister, who had surgery to address sciatic issues, had managed to lead a Cabinet meeting earlier in the week but had to cut his activities short. Mitchell, noted that Davis had been advised to take it easy, given that he had attended several public events since his operation.
Health Minister Michael Darville previously stated that Prime Minister Davis had undergone a successful surgery after enduring severe pain for months while standing. Mitchell emphasized that although Davis may have pushed himself too hard too soon after the procedure, he is expected to recover fully.
“He’s fine,” Mitchell reassured, adding that Davis will heed his doctors’ orders and will be “back up and running” soon.
