3.8 magnitude earthquake shakes Trinidad

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 shook parts of Trinidad on Monday but there were no reports of damage or injuries.

The St. Augustine-based Seismic Research Center of the University of the West Indies (UWI) said that the earthquake occurred at 9.23am local time (08:23 EST) on the Paria Peninsular west of Trinidad.

It said the event was located at 10.66 degrees north and 62.07 degrees west and that it was felt in the capital, Port of Spain and the western Diego Martin area.

Last month, Trinidad was also shaken by two earthquakes with magnitudes of 3.1 and 4.9 respectively. -(CMC)
