Who is Chris Reese?

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

I am just a man that loves reality. I give my all to Women in Sports because even they can say they don’t know many men that will stand for them.

I read the Bible before. In it, not too many women were mentioned. In it, I kinda got the feeling that God didn’t need much from woman. I’ve always assumed that even worse than black men in America, women in general had a worse and steeper hill to climb.

Throughout history, even biblical history, that very notion is still TRUE! So it is for that one reason alone why I’ll never show fear when speaking for and about the women I’ll love and respect forever. That’s Chris Reese the TITLE IX NETWORK sports writer.

Who am I completely? I love my country. Funny story. I actually HATE my country. Yep. I said it.

Love/HATE is the only way to love something or someone. How? I love this country for one reason. Here, even if I know I respect my opponent, it’s still American for me to say, “I am going to win!” Even if I know I probably won’t. Here, I’ve yet to see a losing attitude. That’s why I love it. I love it because I didn’t know I did until I donned the United States Marine Corps uniform. Defending America means something. The look in the eyes of a man I know can’t stand looking at me the person, actually looks and feels welcoming when that uniform is on. Now that I no longer wear it, for everyone that has been there before me, was there with me, and will follow me, I still wear my flag for them. I still and will always wear that flag for that same man or woman. No matter the level of HATE that will always be against the condition of my people here in America, I love it because they hate to love me.

I hate this place because out of all of the world’s history, ours sucks the most. We’re always vulnerable, and we cry a lot. We dance to the music of people we disrespect. At the moment of figuring that one out, I’ll erase the hate I have.

All in all, I am an American because someone died for me to be just that. Someone died for me to love and hate my history as an American. I say to that someone, I love you. Not because you died or because I could care less what you look like. I love you my Fellow American Brother and Sister because you’re an American!

What does Chris Reese love the most about TITLE IX?

The score. I’ve yet to see a game where the teams didn’t care. Normally when a game is going on and a team is being blown out, that team throws it in.

I went to a Connecticut Sun vs Seattle Storm game once. Seattle was up 18. They won by a buzzer beater. They won because in sports there is only ONE TIME when the athlete is supposed to be TOO TIRED to win. Practice. Well, in this game, every woman on the Sun’s roster dripped in sweat. They gave something to that game that wasn’t asked for. Basketball, well, sports for that matter has a look about it. Every fan can pretty much give you a rundown on any team. Except for women in sports. You’re not going to know how to feel until its over, and when its over, you always want more. I care about TITLE IX more so for that reason than any other. Women fight harder to me. They dig deeper. And it always seems as though when they look beat up, that’s just a look!

Any expectations from writing or coaching or being a musician, etc?

Of course. I expect to practice for more performance. Never really cared about anything but working. My satisfaction in all that I am born to do comes from the smile from others. I only expect happiness from other people. No matter who they are.

Shed a little “Sports Talk” light on the Greats of TITLE IX. Let’s go with your all time starting line up in basketball. That seems to be your favorite sport. We’ll make it easy on you this time.

Point Guard? Here of late I’ve been on the Tameka Johnson and or Ivory Latta bandwagon. Both of them play for the Tulsa Shock, and both are great women and leaders. However, all time? Either Kim Perrot or Dawn Staley. I say Kim because she was the key to Houston winning. Dawn because She’s Dawn!

Shooting Guard? Cappie Pondexter. No explanations required. However, this woman has a Fashion Line that even I respect. And I know NOTHING about dressing to the appropriateness of you caring what I look like. So we all should support 4Seasons Style Management. The greatest 2 guard ever runs that!

Small Forward? In women’s sports this one is the toughest. It’s the position that started TITLE IX. And for that I’d gone give that to Cheryl Miller. She played all 87 positions, but as a Slasher, she is the best. She’s the best ever, but at this given position, not even Maya Moore can touch Cheryl Miller.

Power Forward? Not too many people will understand my pick until they see this woman! Aisha Mohammed. Dear friend of mine. An African Queen to the highest degree of being genuine. I love this woman. I’m so dumb that I actually scheduled a serious game of 1 on 1 with this woman. She takes this spot because this is one tough position. She’s the strongest woman to ever touch a basketball and for that, she earns my vote as greatest Power Forward of all time.

There are some Hall of Famers here. Tina, Ruthie, Tammy Sutton- Brown, etc. However, against this Lioness, no one can come close.

Center? Everyone always take the easy route and run with Big Smooth. Lisa Leslie. I can’t jump on that train. I think Lobo was 20 times more fundamental. I think Margo Dydek was better. Leslie did her thing but to me her skill set wasn’t as complete. That being said, I think we’re all watching a Giant Grow. Britney Griner is going to be the greatest female center ever. I can do this all day!

How would Chris Reese like to be remembered?

Wearing a “I Back Pat” tee shirt!
