The Big Game!!

The Toronto Argonauts (Argos) hosted the Edmonton Eskimos three days ago in the Eastern Semi-Final. This was the Argos’ first playoff game since 2007. It was a good game for the Argos who dominated the Eskimos 42-26 to advance to the Canadian Football League (CFL) eastern final against the Montreal Alouettes.

Many of the International Developmental Fast Football League (IDFFL) coaching staff are currently playing for the Argos.

GET YOUR OWENS3K3 T-shirt

Chad Owens (the star of the semi-final game against the Eskimos) has achieved a feat no other football player in the NFL or CFL has been able to achieve – 3 consecutive years with over 3000 All Purpose Yards.

In honor of this amazing record the IDFFL is releasing the Chad Owens OWENS3K3 t-shirt, with the proceeds going to families in need with kids who want to play in the IDFFL. The goal is to sponsor 3000 games for athletes throughout the greater Toronto area. The IDFFL needs your help and support to achieve this goal. Order your t-shirt today! (click here!).

Early Registration Deposit

The IDFFL reports that early registration has been good, that certain community leagues are beginning to fill up and will be full by early December. The Registration deposit is CDN$38 (US$37.90) (until December 1), and can be done on the IDFFL registration form.

But I Don’t Want To Play “Soft” Football

There is a mis-conception out there that 7-on-7 that the IDFFL offers, might be “soft” football and not necessarily beneficial, however IDFFL president and founder Anthony Cannon, and league operations manager Farell Duclair have provided us with the expert opinions below:..

“Look at the NFL. It’s the way it’s spread out … I think the kids are getting developed better …..across the country right now because now football has taken on all the 7v7 [elements].” – Jimbo Fisher.

“I’ve watched the whole thing [7v7 football] change over time. The ability …… to be coached and work year-round, that’s so important….” – Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M Head Football Coach (from ESPN.com, 7/18/12).

The IDFFL can be found on FaceBook at: facebook.com/idffl and on Twitter at: @idffl .

“That’s part of the point of [7v7 football]. First off, you’re playing 12 months a year, which can only help. You’re learning route progressions and coverages. It really forces you to dissect the game and understand what the defense or offense is trying to do to you.” – Matt Stafford NFL QB (in an interview with Yahoo Sports, 4/24/12).
