Dangote widens footprint – sets up $100 million truck assembly plant in Lagos

Aliko Dangote and his Dangote Group are in the final stages of setting up a US$100 million vehicle assembly plant in the Ikeja industrial suburb of Lagos, Nigeria.

According to group spokesman, Anthony Chiejina, the plant has the capacity to produce 10,000 heavy duty trucks annually. The trucks in addition to being used by the group, will be sold to customers within Nigeria, and across sub-Saharan Africa.

The assembly plant which is expected to create at least 3,000 jobs, is coming the Dangote Refinery also located in Lagos that would have the capacity to produce 650,000 barrels per day.
