Clark Atlanta University has received a huge gift from retired NBA star Charles Barkley.

In honor of Giving Tuesday, Barkley said he would be donating US$1 million to the historically black institution. The university had set a goal of US$25,000 for Giving Tuesday, an online donation event birthed from the Black Friday and Cyber Monday phenomenon.

WSB-TV reports Barkley also is donating US$1 million to Alabama A&M University, another historically black school. In June 2015, Barkley donated US$1 million to Morehouse College, his alma mater – Auburn University – and the Wounded Warrior Project in Atlanta.

Clark Atlanta President Ronald A. Johnson says Barkley’s gift reflects “his desire to make a significant, positive and lasting difference in the lives of others.”
